Homemade Carmelized Onion Bread Variation

I have already posted Mom's basic bread recipe.  Here is a WONDERFUL variation on a classic:
Homemad Carmelized Onion Bread.

Finely dice a whole onion and saute it in a pan until caramelized (you can add a teaspoon of sugar to help the caramelization along).

Make a tea with a tablespoon of caraway seeds (then strain out and discard seeds).

Use the tea (when it cools) in place of the warm water measure, and add in the onions and a handful of rolled oats.  (The onions are a bit wet, and the oats help balance out the liquid-to-dry ratio).

Substitute one of the two cups of flour with whole wheat flour or whole spelt flour.

I just throw it all in and let the breadmaker do it's thing...I use the 1lb setting.  But these would make awesome dinner rolls if you just used the dough setting and formed them and baked them in the oven.
